While the kids are here we help with homework, spend time going over spelling words, math skills and any special assigned work from teachers. We allow members to use club computers to work on projects and utilize the public schools web-based learning sites. We monitor grades so we can help those kids that are struggling in a certain area. To sum it up, we strive to make sure our club kids are getting that little extra learning after school.
Helping youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in the democratic process is the main thrust of these programs.
We implement BGCA programs like Passport to Manhood, Smart Moves and Junior Staff to help our club kids learn to develop healthy relationships, to take care of themselves physically and emotionally and to learn responsibility.
We want our kids to get the exercise that their young bodies need. We have fun with challenges and games that focus on building strong bodies and a desire to be active. We use BGCA programs like Triple Play to run a variety of themed-based games and activities. We also run Healthy Habits to teach them about the importance of proper nutrition, hygiene and what happens in your body to make them move.
